Review
eRobertParker.com June 2010 91 Points Noi 2007 - 91 Points, eRobertParker.com ------------------------------------------ The 2007 Noi is a seriously delicious bottle of wine. Rich and expansive on the palate, the Noi offers up grilled herbs, wild cherries, spices and tobacco, showing notable length and fatness. Clean mineral notes balance the opulent fruit nicely. This is the best vintage of Noi I can recall tasting... San Patrignano is a community built with a mission to help young people recovering from alcohol and drug dependencies return to productive lives.... Beginning in 2009 the approach for the top wines is much more based on a non-interventionalist approach to the vineyards and cellar. San Patrignano has enlisted the services of no less than Gianfranco Soldera to lend a hand, so needless to say it will be fascinating to see what develops here. ------------------------------------------ eRobertParker.com April 2009 ------------------------------------------ The 2006 Colli di Rimini Roi is a spicy, full-bodied red to enjoy over the next few years. The wine reveals good up-front fruit but the tannins clamp down hard on the mid-palate. ------------------------------------------ Guide to Italian Wines Spring 2008 4 Stars - Excellent A Unique Wine Project ------------------------------------------ A blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Aromas of black cherry, currant and cumin. Medium-full with very good concentration. Ample oak and youthful tannins. Herbal finish. Best in 5-7 years. ------------------------------------------ Wine Advocate February 29, 2008 88 Points ------------------------------------------ San Patrignano is a fascinating property. The estate was founded by the Muccioli family in the late 1970’s as a rehabilitation center for young people with drug and alcohol dependencies. San Patrignano makes a wide variety of agricultural products as part of its programs to offer profession training designed to help those in need re-enter society in a more productive and healthy state. The wines, made with the assistance of oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, are often outstanding. The 2005 Noi is a richly-flavored offering loaded with plump fruit, leather, licorice and spices. This medium-bodied, accessible wine is sure to provide much pleasure over the next few years. ------------------------------------------ 30 Second Wine Advisor April 4, 2007 Winery does well by doing good ------------------------------------------ A very dark reddish-purple wine, almost black, showing brilliant garnet glints against a bright light. Interesting and complex aromas start with juicy black plums, adding a mix of dried herbs and a distinctive whiff of leather. Tart, mouth-watering acidity shapes a flavor profile that follows the nose, earthy and ripe, with the structure needed to make it a fine food wine. Its high acidity makes it a natural with tomato-based dishes, and it was fine with a dish of veal ”polpettone” simmered in a light fresh-tomato sauce over penne. For a more basic match, it wouldn’t go amiss with a sizzling rare steak. These are quality wines, placed well above an everyday price point, but those who admire the up-to-their-bootstraps San Patrignano program might consider it as much a gesture of supoprt as an investment in wine. The varietal blend and vinification suggest a wine that will cellar well. Drink now or store under good environmental conditions for five years or more. ------------------------------------------ Gambero Rosso Guide to Italian Wines Spring 2007 ------------------------------------------ i-winereview.com December 2006 ------------------------------------------
