The Black Pearl boasts all the same quality characteristics as Louis XIII, however it is the impressive casing that defines its regal nature. The cognac pays homage to the original Louis XIII decanter- a metal flask found in cognac dating back to 1569. However this isn't your run-of the-mill metal flask. Though it does embody a sense of antiquity, today's decanter is hand blown and fabricated from what appears to be smoky black or gleaming steel. Its value is exemplified by the limited number of Baccarat crystal bottles produced, each individually numbered. Rémy Martin outfitted the crystal with four distinct seals, all of which showcase the lily.
With only 786 decanters culled from just one tieron, don't expect to see the Black Pearl flying off the shelves. In fact, good luck trying to find it on the shelves as it is available by invitation only.
